Privacy
We collect as little as we can, and we use it only for this campaign.
What we collect
When you add your name: your name, ZIP code, and, if you choose to give them, your email address, how you use the bridge, and a short note about why it matters to you. We also record whether you clicked "I sent it" after emailing the City Council. To limit spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address; we don't store the address itself.
How we use it
- We share counts with the City, such as how many people signed and from which ZIP codes.
- We share your name with the City only if you checked the box allowing it. Anything sent to the City becomes a public record under North Carolina law.
- We publish your story, with your first name only, only if you checked the box allowing it.
- We email you only if you gave an email address and asked for updates.
We never publish your email address, never sell or share our list, and never use it for anything other than this campaign.
Emailing the City Council
The "Open in my email" button opens a draft in your own email app; we don't see or send the message. Under North Carolina law, email to City Council members and City staff about City business is a public record and can be released, including your name and email address.
The street map
On the street map, your tap or location stays in your browser. We don't save it or send it to our server. The map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and the area of the map your browser loads, as with any web map.
Removing your information
Contact us and we'll delete your entry. When the campaign ends, we'll delete the list.
